DELIVERING AID IN THE WORLD'S WAR ZONES
From Sudan to Gaza, ReliefAid founder and Hawke's Bay-bred boy Mike Seawright talks about the dangers and challenges of delivering aid under fire over the last two decades.
ReliefAid is a New Zealand founded charity, specialising in delivering emergency humanitarian aid to families in conflict zones. Since 2014, they have delivered aid to over 1.4 million people.
Mike Seawright's Bio:
Since leaving the corporate world over 20 years ago, New Zealander Mike Seawright has been delivering humanitarian assistance to families living in the world’s conflict zones. He has provided medical aid in Iraq, Yemen, Sudan, South Sudan and Pakistan, economic development and energy projects in Afghanistan and led ReliefAid’s emergency humanitarian interventions, in, Syria, Gaza, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Turkey and Ukraine.
Frustrated that not enough was being done to help families affected by war and conflict Mike founded ReliefAid. With a simple vision of helping families in war zones who have no one else to turn too, ReliefAid has delivered life-saving aid to over 1.4 million people, and they are not stopping there.
While his work surrounds him in war and conflict Mike counts himself lucky to bear witness to what he calls “the very best of humanity”.
