The Napier Technical Memorial Band again joins forces with Deco Bay Brass to create a formidable symphonic band for their annual major joint concert at the MTG, Sunday 10 August at 2pm.
The stage will be bursting at the seams, opening with popular themes from TV and cinema: The Sweeney, Star Wars and Mamma Mia, then two major works by international composer and conductor, Christopher Wilson: Lament for the Fallen and Fanfare for Victory followed by Man of Sea, commissioned in the north of England, describing a fishing vessel out at sea early morning, being tossed around by a huge storm before a daring rescue by lifeboats. Each band, including the Junior Tech Band conducted by Teresa Cuthbert, takes their turn before the rousing finale with the spectacular Swarm, Jerusalem and Lord of the Dance.
